Euromillions Superdraws are special drawings where there is a guaranteed jackpot of €100 million. The Euromillions Superdraw 2012 took place at the end of September but there were also other special draw events performed in Euromillions last year, including a great one that was performed during the London Olympics of 2012.
Since most ‘Superdraws’ that took place during the last year occurred in the form of Euromillions raffle draws in the United Kingdom, let’s take a look at how the Millionaire raffle game works before learning more about the Euromillions Superdraw of 2012.
Euromillions Millionaire Raffle numbers
When the players of the United Kingdom play the standard Euromillions game, they are automatically entitled to participate in the Euromillions Milionaire Raffle also. Actually, each ticket purchased inside the UK contains a Euromillions Raffle number – an additional sequence which is actually three letters and six numbers (e.g. BCD123456).
These numbers are automatically generated by the ticket computer, players don’t have the freedom to choose their own raffle numbers. There are two reasons for this 1) it guarantees a particular number of winners in accordance with the occasion 2) it makes sure that every ticket has a unique sequence and every ticket has equal odds of winning. It is worth noting that you can get your hands on a UK Euromillions lottery ticket even if you do not reside in the United Kingdom: Play UK Euromillions Millionaire raffle online
Usually, the UK Millionaire Raffle is drawn just before the Euromillions draws. A special machine called Automated Draw Machine (ADM) is used to pick the winning Euromillions Raffle numbers. If the winning sequence matches the one found on your ticket, you are the lucky millionaire.
Euromillions Superdraw 2012
Here are the notable Euromillions draws from the previous year:
27th July 2012
Excitement was at a high well before the date arrived, not only because of the Olympics but also because one hundred people were about to win big lottery prizes.
We are talking about the record breaking Raffle that was drawn on the day of the opening ceremony of the Olympics 2012 in London. One hundred tickets won the grand prize of £1 million each. The previous record was created on 24th December 2010, when 25 lucky winners received a prize of £1 million each. The current record, however, created four times as many millionaire winners, making the previous record look run-of-the-mill. Essentially, this superdraw was organized to celebrate the Olympics as well as to thank all the lottery players who have helped support the Games through the purchasing tickets.
Euromillions Superdraw 28 September 2012
The more conventional Euromillions lottery Superdraw of 2012 was carried out at the end of September. The jackpot was set at €100 million (£80 million) which was won by a single ticket (20 23 26 30 33 – 6 9) while the Raffle was won by the following sequence: ZLJ501773.
25 December 2012
The 549th Euromillions draw took place on Tuesday December 25th 2012 and produced 25 new raffle winners in the Millionaire raffle. The €15,000,000 jackpot rolled over, but 25 prizes of €1 million were won by the ticket holders lucky enough to match the 25 raffle sequences.
1 January 2013
Though this Raffle was drawn in the year 2013, we wanted to talk about it a bit as it was the New Year ’s Day Raffle. The rather smallish jackpot worth €38,032,608 was shared by three tickets, while 25 guaranteed prizes worth €1 million were also announced in the Millionaire raffle.
Although there was only one genuine Euromillions Superdraw 2012, usually superdraws happen twice a year. Therefore, if you hear that there is a Superdraw coming up, make sure you take your chance – who knows when a stroke of luck might make all your dreams come true!
