Superenalotto Italian Lottery is among the biggest of various super lotteries available to players from around the globe and is famous for one of the biggest Jackpots prizes on offer in the world of modern lottery!!!

The Italians love to play SuperEnalotto almost as much as they love to eat good pasta and drink their lovely wines! The key to the popularity of Super enalotto is attributed to the number of record breaking lottery jackpots, frequently reaching amounts of well over €100 Million Euros, with the biggest record Superenalotto jackpot of €177 Million Euros topping the list. This amazing pot of lottery money was won on the 30th of October 2010.

Considering these jackpots, it is not surprising that Italians reportedly play lottery for more than $38 billion each year! This also makes the Italian Super Enalottery one of the biggest lotteries in both Europe and the world as a whole. It is popular worldwide thanks to online play and lottery players all over the world buy tickets online and play SuperEnaLotto, looking for the lottery jackpot that makes all dreams come true.

Italian Super Enalotto lottery, a brief history

The origins of Super Enalotto go back to the 1950’s, when the EnaLotto was launched. In 1996 SISAL won the bid for operating the Enalotto lottery. SISAL was founded back in 1946 and one of the co-founders was a man named Geo Molo. Today the lottery is run by his son, so Sisal has a long tradition in the Italian lottery gaming industry.

Some changes were proposed to the formula behind the Enalotto game, making it more appealing to the public. Late in the year 1997 these were approved by Italian Minister of Finance and the modern day SuperEnalotto was born!
The very first draw of Italy’s all new Superenalotto was performed on the 3rd of December 1997. This new modified Superena lotto game was a huge hit and has captivated Italian lotto players ever since.

How SuperEnalotto Italian lottery works?

The Italian SuperEna Lotto has 3 weekly draws – yes, every week of the year you have 3 chances to win the SuperEnaLotto jackpot prize. Super Enalotto Italian lottery draws take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

To play and win Superena Italian lotto you pick 6 numbers drawn from a pool of 90 numbers. During a Superenalotto draw 6 winning numbers are drawn, plus a bonus number (called the Jolly Number) If a player manages to match all 6 main winning numbers plus the “Jolly number” he or she wins the Jackpot prize.

In addition to this there are 4 more prize categories: 2nd prize for matching 5 main numbers plus Jolly Number, 3rd prize for matching 5 main numbers, 4th prize for matching 4 main numbers and 5th prize for matching 3 main numbers.
Originally and until the 30th of June 2009 the six main Superenalotto winning numbers were taken from the first number drawn in Italian Lottomatica’s regional lotto draws for the cities of Bari, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo & Rome (used in that order). The Venice draw was used as a “Jolly” number.

If the first number of a city had been used before, then the second of the city’s draw was used – and so on. In this system there was a small probability that the numbers of two cities could be the same, if that happened of course the same number would appear twice, therefore making it impossible to win the Super Enalotto jackpot!

This interesting arrangement was abandoned on the 1st of July 2009 and since then SuperEnaLotto numbers have been drawn independently of Lottomatica draws. There is one single draw for the six winning numbers and the “Jolly” number and a second independent draw for the “SuperStar” number.
