Powerball Payout Chart | Power Play and Odds

While it might be a bit early to start checking the Powerball payout chart with one eye on the big drawing coming up next Saturday, we are putting long standing plans into action and publishing it today.

There is a total of 9 prize categories in the Powerball lottery, as you can see in the following chart:

Note that the prize amount cited here above, do not take into account the Power Play option. This is an extention of the game which can increase the amount of wins significantly.

It only applies to the non jackpot tiers, but can multiply the prize amount by 2, 3, 4, or 5 (there is also a possibility of 10, should the jackpot estimate sit at under 150 million dollars). The multiplying factor is determined by a single number which is drawn seperately in each drawing.

The payout of the Match 5 is doubled with this option – bringing it to $2 million.

In addition to the main prizes, players also have the chance to increase their winnings by opting to include Power Play for a small additional fee.

This option increases all non-jackpot or Match 5 winnings by a multiple of 2, 3, 4 or 5 (or possibly 10 when the estimated jackpot is less than $150 million) depending on which Power Play number is drawn. Match 5 winnings are doubled to $2 million with the Power Play option.
